The corrugation forming of corrugated pipes is the key to manufacturing corrugated pipes. Hydro forming and mechanical forming are commonly used processes in the corrugated metal pipes manufacturing industry, which have wide adaptability and good manufacturability. There are several types of corrugated metal hose production processes.

1. Hydro forming process. Hydro forming is a widely used and common forming method for corrugated metal hose. It is mainly used to manufacture annular corrugated pipes, and can form corrugated pipes with a wall thickness of 0.08~4mm. The hydro forming of corrugated hose is that the tube blank is formed into a bellows in a special mold when the stress exceeds the yield strength under the pressure of the inner wall liquid.

2. Mechanical forming process. mechanical forming of bellows including spinning forming, rolling forming and mechanical expansion and other process methods.

Generally speaking, mechanical forming has the advantages of simple process, easy tooling, high production efficiency and so on. It is mostly used in the manufacture of spiral corrugated pipes, corrugated expansion joints and large-diameter thick-walled corrugated pipes.

3. Rubber forming process. Rubber forming process is a kind of bulging process. It uses rubber as the forming punch. Under the action of pressure, the rubber punch is deformed, and the tube blank is formed into a bellows according to the cavity of the concave model. The forming method is usually single-wave continuous forming.

4. Mechanical hydro forming, mechanical hydro forming is a forming method in which the tube blank is first rolled inward by a rolling method, and then bulged outward by a hydraulic method to form the corrugated pipe. The mechanically hydro formed corrugated pipe is strengthened due to the deformation of the wave crests and troughs, which plays a good role in improving the elasticity of the bellows and is an effective process for manufacturing deep wave bellows.
