How do choose the thickness of stainless steel hoses?

The wall thickness of stainless steel bellows is an important geometric parameter. The main characteristics of the hoses(stiffness and working stress) depend on the geometric dimensions of the bellows, especially their wall thickness.

The wall thickness of the corrugated pipe has a certain proportional relationship with the inner diameter. For the corrugated pipe with an inner diameter of φ10~1000mm, the ratio of the wall thickness to the inner diameter is generally controlled at 0.0006~0.05; if it is too thick, its flexibility must be poor; if it is too thin, Its pressure bearing capacity is limited.

Therefore, various corrugated pipes must choose a reasonable wall thickness according to the specific use conditions and performance requirements, according to the corresponding relationship between the inner diameter and the wall thickness.

When designing high-pressure bellows, in order to reduce the stiffness and stress of the hoses, it is necessary to design a multi-layer structure of the hoses, but the ratio of the total wall thickness to the inner diameter of the multi-layer hoses is generally not greater than 0.05.
