Bellows compensator, also called the expansion section, or telescopic joint. It is composed of a corrugated pipe (an elastic element) and an end pipe, a bracket, a flange, a pipe, etc.. Mainly used in various pipelines, it can compensate the thermal displacement of the pipeline, prevent mechanical deformation and absorb varieties of mechanical vibration, play a role in reducing the pipe deformation stress and improve the service life of the pipeline. The corrugated compensator is divided into two kinds: flange connection and welding connection. Buried pipe compensator is commonly used in welding methods.
Working principle: Corrugated compensator make use of the effective stretch deformation to absorb the size change produced by heat expansion and cold contraction of pipeline/pipe/container. It can compensate axial/ lateral and angular displacement, and also can be used to reduce vibration and noise.It is widely used in modern industry.
Corrugated compensator is also widely used in steel industry. It is first and foremost used to the large blast furnace and hot blast stove. Different type of general corrugated compensators are used in the pressure supply and drainage system of the blast furnace top, cooling pipe system of the blast furnace body,air supply pipeline, oxygen supply pipeline and cooling water pipeline of the large blast furnace top and so on. The standard corrugated compensator is installed on the Air Supply Branch Pipeline. The corrugated compensator is not only compensate displacement of pipeline,and also can reduce equipment stress.
General Corrugated compensator as connecting hose is used in the inlet and outlet pipeline. It compensates thermal expansion of the pipeline by reducing the thrust of the thermal expansion or absorbing vibration when pump working.
Stainless steel corrugated compensator is available for flexible connection of the pipeline.
In recent years, storage tanks( of oil fields,oil depots and chemical plants) are built bigger and bigger. Because of the limit of geological conditions, natural sinking of foundation makes storage tanks and inlet/outlet pipeline appearing displacement so that the connecting pipe and tank wall is broken.Corrugated compensator or stainless steel hose are used to compensate displacement of storage tank’s inlet/outlet pipeline.
The storage tank’s outlet pipeline is fitted out with the minor rod type(couple type) corrugated compensator.It is not only absorb axial displacement produced by thermal expansion , can compensate lateral displacement produced by storage tank’s natural sinking of foundation, protects pipeline and tank wall against destruction,and have shockproof and anti-seismic effect.
