Before turning on the underfloor heating, it is recommended to perform a deep maintenance to ensure its heating performance and make the winter more comfortable. Just like cars need regular maintenance, underfloor heating may also encounter problems if not maintained regularly during long-term operation.
Here are a few points to keep in mind when cleaning and maintaining underfloor heating:
1. Wall-mounted boiler: due to water quality and circuit problems, scale and carbon deposits may accumulate inside the equipment during prolonged operation. These impurities attach to the heat exchanger and burner over time, not only reducing the efficiency of the wall-mounted boiler, but also damaging it and affecting its heating effect. For some low-water-temperature and low-load floor heating systems, the condensate water may corrode the main heat exchanger of the wall-mounted boiler (mostly non-condensing boilers), greatly reducing the heat transfer efficiency of the wall-mounted boiler and even damaging other components, affecting the service life of the wall-mounted boiler.
Regular maintenance can help detect and address such issues before they become significant problems.
2. Pipeline floor heating: During operation, impurities such as scale and microorganisms may grow inside the pipeline, which can be divided into hard scale and soft scale. Calcium and magnesium ions in hard scale will precipitate as CaCO3 and MgCO3, adhere to the inner wall of the pipeline. Although the total amount of hard scale is not large as the underfloor heating is a closed-loop system. The water contains soft scale in addition to hard scale, including algae, legionella, and other microorganisms. For example, legionella will multiply in a 40~50℃ environment, and can survive at 50~60℃. The operating environment of the underfloor heating provides a good breeding ground for legionella.
Moreover, most floor heating systems use non-deoxygenated pipes, which make it difficult to isolate oxygen penetration. This allows the soft scale to grow freely in the underfloor heating pipes, affecting the radiation of the underfloor heating and even blocking its circulation. The decline in underfloor heating performance over the years is directly related to the impurities in the pipes. Therefore, regular cleaning of the underfloor heating pipes to remove scale and impurities is necessary.
3. Temperature control system: The temperature control system includes a water distribution collector, electric thermal actuator, temperature control panel, etc.. Over time, it may also suffer from aging problems, such as electric thermal actuator failure, which may cause heating control issues in some areas.
Regular inspection is also necessary to detect and solve problems in advance, avoiding last-minute rush to fix issues. The current mainstream maintenance method is to charge based on the heating circuit, roughly around 100~150 yuan per circuit (usually with discounts in summer). The service content includes cleaning the pipeline, checking temperature control components, etc. If there are parts that need to be repaired or replaced, a material fee will be incurred.
Finally, different brands of wall-mounted boilers may have different maintenance requirements due to differences in technology. Some brands will arrange for manufacturer's after-sales personnel to provide on-site maintenance. Some manufacturers will commission agents to provide the corresponding services. The maintenance frequency is usually once every 3~4 years, and it is not necessary to do it too frequently. You can refer to the usage age of your underfloor heating to decide when to do maintenance. We wish you all a warm winter.
